Christmas fun in Corsicana Tx

What great fun this past Saturday in historic downtown Corsicana ! The parade is always a highlight of the year with many participants. Thanks to all for braving the weather! With all the participants throwing out candy for the kids, it was fun to see them scramble for the taking. It’s great to see the stores that are new in downtown, and the number opening each year. If you haven’t visited downtown Corsicana, you will be amazed at the amount of new construction and face lifting that has taken place. You can find clothing, antiques, gifts, flowers, office supplies, copier sales and leasing, cosmetics, several specialty coffee bars, and of course restaurants. Mexican, italian, cafe’s, sweets, and an old fashion soda shop, to name a few. There are now many loft apartments – would you believe there are more than 40 people making their home in downtown? Also, several new office complexes, one of which we are located in. The city has opened a new “pocket park” at the north end of town, reconstructed many sidewalks, and maintains a strict compliance of the historic look for the area. Kudos to city employees for the downtown decorations, and most impressive, the Christmas tree at the intersection of Beaton and Collin Streets. It’s a perfect background for pictures! For those of you that don’t know what a “pocket” park is, these are small  areas where buildings once stood. These buildings were not savable and were demolished. Rather than have an unsightly open area, they are made into beautiful parks where you can relax, reflect, or for a reasonable fee, rent for parties and other gatherings. If you want a great place to stroll this month (or any other!) come visit the downtown area of Corsicana. You’ll enjoy the eats, shopping, and all the beautiful decorations!
