Wonderful Time with The Salvation Army of Corsicana Tx
Last week was a big hit for kids and families of Corsicana that needed help with Christmas toys and gifts. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program in Corsicana is set up annually in November for the sole purpose of collecting toys and bicycles for children of low economic and social status. The planning process for this massive endeavor begins each year in August. Once families are identified needing support, The Salvation Army kicks it’s program in gear early November and begins to deliver the Angel cards to businesses throughout the community. The generous people of Corsicana begin to pick their Angels, and bring the gifts to a central distribution point, also donated by a generous citizen. Even Angels not picked off the tree are gathered and filled by local toy drives. Then begins the process of filling bags which are strategically numbered and labeled for each family. Finally after five weeks of glorious work, the parents of the kids pull up outside the building and volunteers including Corsicana Firefighters and Police load up the gifts! It’s quite a site to see with over 500 large bags of toys and hundreds of bicycles given this year! This year celebrates 120 years of The Salvation Army in Corsicana. How fortunate are we to have this Christian organization preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and serving the needs of humanity in His name! Glory be to God !
